Odor control In Kraft Paper Mills
We had an opportunity to help a kraft paper mill by solving a problem that affected villagers. This factory had been producing cardboard for a while now. They struggled to solve the odor issue that was bothering the nearby villagers. They searched for help, and that’s when they discovered us!
The Superweld visited the mill and looked at the data, which showed that the mill was functioning well. So, what was the issue? Here’s what we noticed and how we fixed it for the factory:
Our observations as we properly examined the aeration tank:
- They added a huge canopy on the top of the aeration tank to stop the gases from reaching the nearby areas to fix the bad smell problem that the villagers were upset about,
- This led to a super hot temperature inside the room of about 55 degrees Celsius. Because of this extreme heat, the usual bacteria-based treatments wouldn’t work.
- The owners had budget constraints due to which they couldn’t install a cooling tower to stop the rise of the temperature. (The process is long and costly).
This was an emergency and we had to find the solution in no time!
